Our consultants began deploying the commercial Xen product on customer projects with the 4.0 release in summer 2007. At the time XenSource, the company behind Xen, had yet to be acquired by Citrix. Our consultants continue to enjoy an excellent working relationship with the original Xen team through their integration into one of the worlds largest software companies. Like XenSource, 360is was founded in 2002 in Cambridge UK, the technology centre of Europe. Like XenSource, 360is has a strong open source history, having built an ISP in the early 1990's on software like postfix, bind, apache, and Linux. Our consultants contribute directly to open source projects like ssh and Blastwave.

With Linux experience (which Xen uses extensively) in commercial environments since 1994, and having executed some of Xen's earliest commercial deployments in the UK, 360is has more history with Xen and XenServer than any other company of its kind.

Our XenServer Projects

We specialise in high risk, tight deadline, budgetary constrained projects. As a result of which we find ourselves frequently recommending Xen. At one-half to one-third the price of a similar VMWare deployment, XenServer is finding favor with many small-to-medium sized companies. At the opposite end of the spectrum, Xen's ultra-thin, performance-driven approach to virtualization has seen us recommend it for a number of compute intensive, large data-set projects such as satellite and medical image processing, data warehouse, and real-time video switching at some of the worlds largest companies. While the bulk of our projects are still traditional server consolidation, many engagements now cover disaster recovery and business continuity, desktop virtualization, and utility computing.

Using our experience with XenServer and access to the original Xen team, we are able to turn what would otherwise be a 3 month project covering Assessment, Design, Implementation, Training, and Support, into a 1 month project. At the same time we are able to reduce overall project risk and enhance the benefits of a virtualization deployment. Consequently, our consultants are often called upon to rescue failed or underperforming virtualization projects, correcting design errors and getting the program back on track with minimum fuss.

As a vendor neutral company whose business is professional services, our input to hardware design and specification often leads to a less capital intensive solution that still delivers the performance and reliability demanded by your users. Traditional server, storage, and networking resellers may not recognise these economies when they see them.

Our XenServer Consultants

Our consultants are experts, having worked previously in senior roles for the worlds largest and most successful ISP. With an estimated 70% of the Internets traffic passing over their network, they deployed and managed thousands of systems securely for blue-chip Times Top 100 and Fortune 500 customers. Staff are highly referenceable via previous engagements with top 5 Investment Banks, Telcos, and Vendors. Our certified XenServer trainers are also field consultants, which means they are not just "book smart" powerpoint jockeys.

Our XenServer Clients

Our XenServer client list consists of a broad spectrum of over 40 UK and Multinational firms. What they have in common is a need to virtualize their estate quickly, without major capital expenditure or risk to their ongoing business operations. The vast majority of our engagements result in ongoing support, upgrades, and regular consultation around future projects. Some of our larger clients are allocated their own consultant, who is able to develop a deep understanding of their IT operations and business demands, and provide expertise and advice accordingly.

Research & Technology

We have developed Xen API code for clients wishing to integrate XenServer with enterprise management systems, we have also added features to the product for a large customer, and have developed our own range of hardware appliances specifically optimised for running XenServer in high density, mission critical, capital constrained environments. We are uniquely qualified in this regard.
